Georgetown Women's Rugby

Wanna Ruck?

Yesterday a dream, today a reality, tomorrow a legend...

Welcome to the website of GUWRFC, Georgetown University Women's Rugby Football Club. The team was founded in 2000 and has come a long way in that time. We started with a handful of girls, certainly not enough to win games or even field a team. We have since joined the PRU, increased our roster to two full sides, won PRU championships 4 times, and made it to the MARFU tournament 3 years in a row. We are a Division II team and a student-run group. We have two fantastic coaches who we are eternally grateful for. If you wish to be involved with our club, schedule a match, or contact us in any way, email us at guwomensrugby@gmail.com!

Rugby Inspiration

"In our country, true teams rarely exist . . . social barriers and personal ambitions have reduced athletes to dissolute cliques or individuals thrown together for mutual profit . . . Yet these rugby players. with their muddied, cracked bodies, are struggling to hold onto a sense of humanity that we in America have lost and are unlikely to regain. The game may only be to move a ball forward on a dirt field, but the task can be accomplished with an unshackled joy and its memories will be a permanent delight. The women and men who play on that rugby field are more alive than too many of us will ever be. The foolish emptiness we think we perceive in their existence is only our own." -V. Cahn
